UNITE - LEAD - SERVE
In 1911, the name of the society was changed
to the Oklahoma State Association of Optometry and a new
constitution was written. That same year, Oklahoma became the 25th
state to obtain an Optometry law. To enhance the educational
background and cultivate opportunities for professional practices
while fostering the exchange of ideas within the profession of
optometry to achieve the common goal of improved eye care for the
citizens of Oklahoma. Doctors of optometry comprise the nation’s
largest eye care profession, treating the eyes of millions of
Americans. As independent primary health care providers, optometric
physicians examine, diagnose, treat and manage diseases and
disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures as
well as diagnose related systemic conditions. With more than 500
optometrists in Oklahoma, optometric physicians dedicate their
careers to protecting vision and providing quality eye care to their
patients. Oklahoma optometrists are equipped with the latest
information and technology to diagnose, treat and manage eye
diseases and conditions.
